The KAP project has started several activities regarding the standardization of project results, like PPIs, energy efficiency in manufacturing. These activities are mainly driven by the partners SAP, DMU, TU Berlin, and Atos, and include the participation in workshops, presentations at dedicated conferences, etc. In Task 3.2 two industrial standards (ISO, VDMA) and two commercial KPI collections (, SAP SCN) were analysed. Contact to representatives or contributors of both standards could be established. There are currently two channels to standardise KAP PPIs in preparation: standards and commercial KPI collections. First contact has been made to the national standardisation bodies BSI British Standards, DIN, as well to the organisations VDMA and VDI to coordinate standardisation of PPIs.

Standardization Organizations

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations.

Standardization and Innovation in Information Technology (SIIT)

SIIT conferences are held every two years. They aim at bringing together standardization researchers from different disciplines, IT-practitioners, policy makers, standards developers and users (administrations, companies, etc.) - that is, those who are interested in exchanging insights on standards and standardization, and appreciate the different angles and types of knowledge brought together.

Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS)

IMS is an industry-led, international business innovation and research and development (R&D) program established to develop the next generation of manufacturing and processing technologies through multi-lateral collaboration. IMS has been contacted to find support for standardisation activities and possibilities for a joint project based on the expected KAP results.

The Effizienzfabrik is an innovation platform funded by the BMBF and the VDMA to foster communication and collaboration between the research community and the industry. KAP participated in an Effizienzfabrik workshop on energy indicators Sept. 19th 2011.

British Standards Institution (BSI)

BSI is the National Standards Body of the UK, with a globally recognized reputation for independence, integrity and innovation in the production of standards that promote best practice. It develops and sells standards and standardization solutions to meet the needs of business and society. KAP partnerd participated in a workshop by the BSI in London to review two European standards on Energy Efficiency Savings Calculation (BS EN 16212) and Energy Efficiency Benchmarking (BS EN 16231) and inform participants about KAP.
